Choosing the Right Jighead Weight for Depth
15 June 2026 · 1 min read
Jighead weight is mostly about how fast you need to reach the strike zone and how much you want to feel bottom contact. In slow, shallow water, a lighter head keeps the lure moving naturally without snagging. In deeper or faster water, a heavier head gets you down quickly and keeps you in contact with the bottom.
A simple rule of thumb: if your line is bowing out and you're losing feel of the bottom, size up. If you're snagging constantly or the lure looks unnaturally stiff on the fall, size down.
Our Shop's Category filter groups jigheads together, so it's easy to compare weights side by side.
