The Sharp Hook was designed for fish with hard, bony mouths — the kind where a blunt or soft hook slides off the jaw instead of biting in. It is made from thin carbon steel rather than a softer alloy, which keeps the wire stiff enough to penetrate instead of flexing on the strike.
The point is chemically sharpened, so it takes very little force to set — which matters most on light line and soft rods, where you simply cannot hit a fish hard. An anti-rust coating keeps it serviceable in salt water and stops the point going dull in storage.
The thin wire also makes it a sensible choice for small natural baits, where a heavy hook would kill the presentation.
Four sizes, No. 10 the largest down to No. 16 the smallest. For perch on small soft baits or worm, No. 12 and No. 14 cover most of it.
